Foothill Volleyball Club, a non-profit organization, was founded by John Van Deventer and Alvin Sibal. John was the former owner and director of both Club Culver and ICON Volleyball Club and has over 30 years of coaching experience. He has had countless league titles, playoff appearances and has also won a CIF-SS Championship at St Paul High School and is currently the Varsity Head Coach at Monrovia High School. Before collaborating with John and founding Foothill Volleyball Club, Alvin had coached for over 12 years with United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL) and ICON Volleyball Club. He brings a unique perspective to the club’s vision as a parent, coach and director.
Going into the second year, Diane Chiappone was added to the club’s leadership and brings a plethora of knowledge and experience on and off the court. She played collegiate volleyball for the University of La Verne. After the conclusion of her playing career, she took the helm of the San Dimas High School volleyball program where in her eight years there, she won five league titles and took multiple teams to CIF playoffs, including a run up to state semifinals. She has shown an ability to lead a successful program and will bring that to help the club to the next level.
Together, their desire is to create a competitive volleyball club at a more affordable price point for our hardworking families in the foothill communities they serve of San Gabriel Valley and Pomona Valley, from Pasadena to Rancho Cucamonga.
